The Developer: Tong Eng Group

In the 1940s the brothers Teo Thye Chor and Teo Thye Hong migrated from the Hui A district of Fujian, China to Singapore. They formed Tong Eng Brothers and started trading electrolytic tinplates that were used in the production of cans and bottle caps.

The brothers went from strength to strength and by the time the 1950’s came along they believed in the growth of Singapore enough to move into property development. They started to buy greenfield land to convert into industrial estates and accommodation.

In the 60s they built their own 26 story headquarters. Continuing to go from strength to strength, they have owned and developed property on over 200 acres of land in Singapore including office, retail, landed housing and apartment developments.
